A very warm welcome to Lisa Kessler; thank you for joining us on BooksChatter!

Here at BooksChatter we love music; do you have a music playlist that you used in Lure of Obsession, or which inspired you whilst you were writing it?

"I always make a playlist for my books before I write them. They really help me keep the mood and the theme of the book together, and they inspire me for writing and editing wherever and whenever I need to work, so I count on them a lot!

LURE OF OBSESSION has 72 songs on the playlist, many are from movie soundtracks, so I won’t bore you with all of them, but here are a few that inspired me for this book."
At Last – Cyndi Lauper
This song inspires Mel and played often when I was writing her. “I found a dream” when she found him, really encapsulated how he turned her glass half empty world into a full bright loving place.
The Sound of Silence – Disturbed
This song was Detective Nate Malone. His pain is on display in this song. He’s one of my favorite heroes I’ve ever written, but he had so many demons. Poor guy! It felt so good to give him a happily ever after! 😊
Just You and Me – Chicago
This was their love! Once they finally got there together… Mel is definitely Nate’s inspiration. I smile every time I hear this song.
What was the inspiration for Lure of Obsession?
"I got the idea for The Muse Chronicles from a short story I wrote a few years ago called Unemployed Muses Anonymous.  The story focused on the Muses living among us, and each woman’s personality was influenced by her “muse”.  It was such a fun concept that I wanted to give each muse her own book.  LURE OF OBSESSION is Book 1."
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"The heroine, Melanie or Mel for short, is the human vessel for the Muse of Tragic Poetry, so while she tries to think positive, she tends to be a “worse case scenario” kind of person.

She’s also a high school English teacher and at one time I wanted to be a teacher.  My Dad and stepmom are both amazing teachers too, so I wanted Mel to be a reflection of the teachers I wished I had in school…"
The first thing that draws me to a book is its cover. Can you tell us about your cover for Lure of Obsession - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"I worked with the super talented Fiona Jayde on the covers for the entire series and since each of the Muses has a “Guardian” marked by Zeus to protect her, they all have heroic jobs.

Fiona had the idea to feature their job on each cover.  I LOVE how they all turned out!  For LURE OF OBSESSION, Nate is a police detective, so his gun and badge are on the cover."

Why should we read Lure of Obsession and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes your book unique?
"If you love paranormal romances mixed with plenty of danger and suspense, you will love LURE OF OBSESSION.  Then entire Muse Chronicles is packed with amazing heroes and strong heroines with a mission to inspire the world."
Can you tell us something quirky about Lure of Obsession, its story and characters?
"Since the heroine of this book carries the Muse of Tragic Poetry inside of her soul, Mel was so much fun to write because she struggles against her Muse to try to think positive, but no matter how hard she fights it, worst case scenarios play out in her head, and that glass is always half empty."
If you could / wished to turn Lure of Obsession and the The Muse Chronicles series into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"When I wrote LURE OF OBSESSION, the couple was very much the couple from the new remake of the Beauty & the Beast television series.  I have a pinterest board for them too."
Kristin KreukJay Ryan
What do you like to write and read about? Do you stick to a particular genre or do you like to explore different ones?
"I’ve written paranormal romance and horror, and I have a secret Urban Fantasy trilogy in the wings waiting to be finished.  I enjoy the high stakes and danger that paranormal genres provide."
What is in store next?
"The Muse Chronicles is now completed and ready for binge reading! 😊

I’m currently writing my Sentinels of Savannah series (immortal pirates!) and my new Sedona Pack series."

And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"Fiona is my intrepid puppy assistant!"
Hello beautiful Fiona! Lots of head-scratches and belly-rubs to you from all of us at BooksChatter :-)

Lisa, thank you for sharing your Fiona with us.
